Spring Cleaner Made Easy

Purple Power

Ah Spring! Generally the time to wake up from winter hibernation, open the windows and air out the house. Spring is traditionally the time to clean carpets, walls, windows and everything else.
I HATE spring cleaning! Over the years , I have used a number of different cleaners to clean the walls, all with limited success. This year is different! Purple Power Industrial Strength Cleaner/De greaser, is my new best friend!
You know how it is when you take a picture off the wall and you can see where it had been hanging? Horrible! You can just never get the surrounding wall clean enough to match the part that was covered up. My new best friend made it so easy and what a difference!
This stuff is awesome! It works great on a wide variety of surfaces in auto, farm, marine, home and industrial applications. The formula penetrates quickly and then creates a barrier between the stain and the surface being cleaned.  Granted, the label says that you should not use it on painted walls. I have found that if the walls were painted over a year ago, it won't remove the paint. If the wall were painted within a year, then it can take the paint off. The best thing to do is to try it on an inconspicuous area.
All I did was spray it on, watch it run down the wall taking the dirt with it and wiped it off with a clean damp rag. Easy work, no scrubbing! If the wall are really dirty a second application may be in order but once it is dry, the walls look like new!
You can use this stuff on a variety of things, inside and out. I have used it on oil spots in the driveway, patio furniture, grills, ovens and even in the laundry. You just have to try it! It is Certified biodegradable, non-abrasive, non-flammable and phosphate-free. Don't Spring without it!

Thumbs Down on AJAX Dish Detergent

 AJAX Dish Detergent

AJAX  Dish Detergent has been a household brand for years. I purchased this 34 oz. bottle which, the label says is 40% more that the competitors 24 oz. Sounded like a good deal because I had a really good deal (see notes) on the purchase.
Since I don't have a dishwasher, I hand wash dishes 2 -3 times a day. A 24 oz. bottle of the brand I usually use will last me around 2 months. This bottle isn't going to last me 3 weeks! The consistency of the detergent was much thinner than other leading brands and it did not produce the kind of suds that I am used to having.
Naturally, I had to use 2-3X as much and sometimes had to change the dishwater at least once while doing the dinner dishes. The suds just didn't hold up. The bottle also claims to be super De-greaser. I didn't think it was that great.

Size: 34 oz
Purchased at: Walmart Super center
Price: $2.49 (I paid $1.50)
NOTES: Using Walmart's Ad Matching policy, Family Dollar had this product on sale for
$2.00
                 -.50 Coupon
$1.50 FINAL PRICE (compared to $2.49)
I really didn't save money or come out ahead since I actually had to use more than I normally would on a load of dishes.

Get Rid of the Clog

Liquid-Plumr® Penetrex™ Gel

There is nothing worse than standing in the shower, refreshed and clean when the dirty water starts rising around your feet. Next step, you start fishing with a coat hanger, thinking there may be hair clogging the drain. No such luck, it has to be down deeper than you can reach. Bummer! Time to get drain opener.
It had been years since I had purchased any drain opener and I do remember that some didn't work quite as well as they said. Great! Einie Meanie Minne Mo... Uh, bottle says it's "New" and works in 15 minutes on a slow drain, OK we will give it a try.
This stuff worked great and it was so simple to use. Pour the entire bottle down the drain, wait 15 minutes and flush with hot water. I can't believe how fast the water is draining now. IMPRESSIVE!

Can also be used on garbage disposals, sinks and tubs but not toilets.

Del Monte Sloppy Joe Sauce

                           Del Monte Sloppy Joe Sauce

Sloppy Joes, that messy American sandwich of browned ground beef swimming in a rich, sweetish tomato sauce, and spooned on a bun was one of my favorite Saturday meals as a kid. Mom would make it from scratch but that was before the canned version came along. Today, we still have sloppy joes about once a month but find it much easier to use the canned sauce.
Del Monte Sloppy Joe sauce is my choice. It tastes closer to Mom's than any other that I have tried. It has a rich, smooth, and hearty taste without the tomato bite that other brands have and without any artificial preservatives.
Ingredients: Tomato Puree (Water, Tomato Paste), Corn Syrup, Distilled Vinegar, Red and Green Bell Peppers, Salt, Worcestershire Sauce (Water, Vinegar, Molasses, Corn Syrup, Anchovies, Natural Flavor, Tamarinds, Onions, Salt, Garlic, Shallots, Cloves, Chili Peppers), Modified Food Starch, Spices, Dried Onions, Dried Garlic, Natural Flavor.

Sizes Available: 15 oz.
Purchased at Walmart Supercenter
